Why is it worth installing an outdoor frame sauna?
In short: a frame sauna wins due to its low price, quick timelines, lightweight foundation, good thermal insulation, and flexibility in planning and finishing, making it a practical and economical choice for most plots and needs. Below are the main advantages categorized by groups, for easy comparison with alternatives such as log, brick, or aerated concrete block saunas.
Price and timelines
Frame technology reduces the budget due to lower material costs and a simpler foundation, so the final price is usually lower than traditional brick or log solutions. Construction takes from a few days to less than a month, there is no need to wait for settling – you can use it immediately after the work is finished.
Economy due to a lightweight frame, inexpensive insulation materials, and a cheaper foundation.
Fast construction: from a few days to <1 month in typical projects.
No settling – can be operated immediately after installation.
Can also be built in cold weather, as the processes are "dry" (without mortars).
Heat and operation
Multi-layer structures with modern heat and vapor insulation ensure high energy efficiency and a stable sauna microclimate. The sauna heats up quickly (in summer in about 40 minutes) and retains heat for a long time, reducing fuel consumption with regular use.
Fast heat-up and energy efficiency due to the effective "envelope" of the structures and low heat capacity.
Good heat retention if the "pie" of wall, floor, and ceiling layers is formed correctly.
Low operating costs for heating with high-quality insulation.
Foundation and plot
The low weight makes it possible to get by with lighter foundations (piles, blocks) and to build where it would be more difficult or expensive to install heavy structures. This is especially useful in weak soils, slopes, and plots where earthworks are restricted.
Light foundations: piles, blocks, minimal earthworks.
Suitable for problematic soils and complex terrain due to low mass.
Design and comfort
The frame provides wide freedom for planning and facade solutions, facilitating the integration of engineering systems and subsequent alterations. Installation does not require heavy machinery, maintenance is simpler, and the materials and insulation solutions are eco-friendly and convenient to operate.
Freedom of planning and finishing: easy to adapt to needs, taste, and style.
Simple installation and the ability to do part of the work without heavy machinery.
Simpler maintenance and easier repair of finishing layers and assemblies.
Eco-friendliness: natural frame wood and modern organic insulation solutions.
Easy to integrate modern safety and engineering systems (including fire protection) into wall and ceiling structures.
Summarizing "all the pros": economy of materials and foundation, quick start without settling, fast heat-up and heat retention, versatility for complex plots, flexible architecture and comfortable operation – this is exactly what explains the popularity of frame saunas today.

Why is it worth installing a sauna in a house or apartment?
In short: a steam sauna in a house or apartment provides convenience "at hand," privacy, and regularity, as well as a distinct relaxation, breathing, and cosmetic effect due to warm moist steam. In urban conditions, this is easily implemented as a steam cabin with a steam generator and a hermetic room adapted to high humidity.
Comfort at home and in the apartment
A home steam sauna saves travel time and allows you to use it in any weather, making the ritual more regular and convenient in everyday life. Short daily 10–15 min. sessions quickly relieve fatigue and stress, which is especially valuable in a home-format steam cabin. A private environment improves the quality of rest and helps to more accurately adjust the regimen to your well-being and daily routine.
Breathing and relaxation
Warm moist steam eases nasal breathing, soothes the respiratory tract, and can reduce congestion symptoms, which is especially relevant during the transitional season. Steam gently warms muscles and joints, reducing stiffness and muscle tension after a workday or a workout. Regular steam sessions promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve sleep quality.
Skin and moisturizing
Moist steam opens pores and helps deeply cleanse the skin, while simultaneously improving microcirculation and the absorption of skincare products. Regular steaming maintains moisture, softens keratinized cells, and contributes to a smoother skin texture. If you are prone to breakouts, steam can help clear pores and reduce their congestion as part of a complex care routine.
Deep cleansing and better permeability of active components after care procedures.
Moisturizing effect and maintenance of barrier functions due to high humidity.
More even skin tone and softness during regular, moderate sessions.
Installation and operation
A steam sauna in an apartment or house is installed as a hermetic steam cabin with a steam generator, a control system, and vapor- and waterproofing finishing materials. Such a format is adapted to high humidity and, when properly designed, is easily integrated into an existing bathroom. By using vapor-impermeable coatings and proper ventilation, structures are protected and reliable operation is ensured.
Mode parameters
A steam sauna operates at a lower temperature but at very high humidity: indicatively ~43–49 °C and up to ~100% humidity in typical modes. Domestic steam cabins are often heated up to ~48 °C, achieving 95–98% humidity, which ensures a gentle, comfortable feeling of warmth. Such a mode gently warms tissues and makes the steam sauna comfortable for a wide range of users, avoiding overheating.

A perfect sauna experience is unimaginable without an outdoor terrace
When designing a sauna, it is important to consider not only the internal layout but also the exterior solutions. An aesthetic transition from the inside to the outside adds value to the structure. Quality terrace installation next to the sauna not only visually expands the space but also becomes an ideal place for your family and guests to relax after sauna rituals.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the average cost of sauna installation and what determines the final estimate?
A complete sauna installation (from insulation to heater connection) costs on average from €5999 to €9999 and more, depending on the size of the room. The largest part of the estimate consists of the heater type (electric or wood-burning), wood species (standard linden or premium thermo-wood / red cedar), and smart control systems. We provide a detailed estimate down to every screw, so the client knows exactly what they are paying for.
What wood is best for sauna walls and benches?
For walls, it is best to choose wood with a low resin content: linden, black alder, or aspen. For top-tier saunas, we recommend thermo-wood, which is resistant to moisture fluctuations. An ideal choice for benches is the African wood Abachi, as it does not heat up even at the highest temperatures, protecting the skin from burns.
Electric or wood-burning heater: what are the requirements and what to choose?
A wood-burning heater creates an authentic atmosphere and soft steam, but requires the installation of a chimney and stricter fire safety distances (PGR requirements). An electric heater is more convenient, does not require a chimney, is ideal for saunas inside a house or in apartments, and the temperature can be controlled via a smartphone. The choice depends on the technical capabilities of your premises and your personal relationship with traditional sauna culture.
Why is proper ventilation critically important in a sauna and how is it installed?
Without proper ventilation, a sauna becomes dangerous to health: there is a lack of oxygen, carbon dioxide accumulates, and the wood quickly begins to rot. Professional sauna installation requires forced or natural exhaust ventilation. Fresh air must enter directly at the heater (to warm up), and exhaust air is extracted in the opposite corner, under the benches. This ensures even heat distribution and easy breathing.
How to adapt the sauna for natural wellness procedures?
A modern sauna is not just about heat, but a holistic wellness space. When designing a sauna, we can integrate Himalayan salt walls that ionize the air, as well as provide special niches for aromatherapy or the use of apitherapy products (for example, propolis extracts) during steaming. It is important to choose a heater with a steam generator so that humidity can be regulated and a microclimate perfectly suited for natural respiratory and skin procedures can be created.
What are the minimum sauna dimensions for a comfortable rest for a family of 4?
For a family of 4 to rest comfortably, we recommend planning at least a 4–5 square meter room for the steam room itself (for example, 2x2.5 m). This allows the installation of two-tier L-shaped benches, where two adults can lie down at the same time while others sit. It is also necessary to provide at least a 1.5–2 sq. m area for an anteroom or shower.
What fire safety requirements apply when installing a sauna in a residential house?
Safety is a priority. According to the Lithuanian Technical Construction Regulations (STR), the safe distances to combustible surfaces specified by the manufacturer must be maintained around the heater. The walls near the heater must be protected with fire-resistant panels (e.g., minerite) or brickwork. Only special heat-resistant (up to 170°C) and moisture-resistant silicone cables are used for electrical installation in the sauna.
Can the sauna space be connected with an outdoor terrace for a unified recreation complex?
This is an ideal solution for those seeking maximum comfort. After leaving the hot steam room, the body needs to cool down. We can design an exit from the sauna directly outside, where professional terrace installation will create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. Complex design allows integrating a sauna, shower, and open recreation area under one roof.
