Which foundations are best suited for an outdoor terrace: screw or concrete?
In Lithuania, screw foundations are the most popular and effective. Their installation takes only one day, work can be carried out all year round, and the price is 20–30% lower than concrete piles. Concrete foundations are recommended only for extremely heavy structures or specific soil. Screw piles ensure excellent ventilation under the terrace, which is critically important for the longevity of the wooden frame.
How to prepare the base under the terrace so that grass does not grow?
Professional base preparation begins with the removal or compaction of the vegetative layer. It is essential to lay geotextile under the frame and cover it with a layer of crushed stone or gravel. This not only stops weed growth but also ensures effective drainage, protecting the terrace structure from excess moisture and mold.
Can the terrace be installed during the winter?
Yes, by using screw piles, the terrace foundations and frame can be installed even at sub-zero temperatures. This is a great way to save money, as in the spring, when the season begins, installation queues are extremely long. It is only important that the finishing boards themselves (especially WPC) are installed observing the manufacturer's instructions regarding temperature gaps.

By using hidden fastening systems (for example, CAMO or ESSVE) and insulating tapes on the joists, the structure is protected from moisture accumulation, so the service life is extended by at least 5–7 years compared to simple installation by driving screws from the top.
